Chemical Peels
NPS Wellness offers SkinCeuticals Chemical Peels!
Chemical Peels are a popular skincare treatment that involves applying a chemical solution to the skin to exfoliate and remove the outer layers, promoting the growth of new, healthier skin. The treatment is used to improve the appearance of the skin, address various skin concerns, and reveal smoother, brighter, and more youthful skin.
Why Combine Neurotoxin Treatment and a Chemical Peel
Fine lines & wrinkles are often considered to be the main sign of aging. But did you know that dark spots & sun damage are inhibiting your youthful glow? And what about skin sagging and texture? Combining a SkinCeuticals chemical peel + Neurotoxin Injection together targets ALL signs of aging.
How Chemical Peels Work
Preparation: The skin is cleansed to remove makeup, oils, and dirt. The aesthetician or dermatologist may apply a pre-peel solution to prepare the skin for better penetration of the chemical peel.
Application of Peel: A chemical solution, often containing ingredients like glycolic acid, salicylic acid, trichloroacetic acid (TCA), or lactic acid, is carefully applied to the skin. The solution is left on the skin for a specified amount of time, depending on the strength of the peel and the desired result.
Reaction: The chemical solution exfoliates the skin by breaking down dead skin cells, allowing them to shed more easily. In some cases, the skin may start to feel tight, tingle, or burn as the solution works.
Post-Treatment Care: After the peel, the skin is usually neutralized (if necessary) and a soothing
treatment is applied. The skin may be red or inflamed for a few hours to a day, depending on the strength of the peel. Aftercare includes moisturizing and protecting the skin from the sun, as it will be more sensitive for several days following the treatment.
Benefits of Chemical Peels
Improved Skin Texture and Tone: Chemical peels exfoliate the skin, improving rough texture, dullness, and uneven pigmentation, resulting in smoother, more radiant skin.
Reduces Fine Lines and Wrinkles: By stimulating collagen production and removing damaged skin, chemical peels can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Acne Treatment: Peels can help treat acne by unclogging pores, reducing excess oil production, and preventing future breakouts.
Hyperpigmentation: Chemical peels can reduce the appearance of sunspots, age spots, and melasma by promoting the shedding of the skin’s outer layer.
Boosts Skin Radiance: Removes dead skin cells, leaving behind fresher, more youthful skin that reflects light better, giving a natural glow.
Improved Absorption of Skincare Products: By removing the top layers of dead skin, chemical peels allow for better absorption of serums, moisturizers, and other skincare products.
Duration and Frequency
Duration: The length of a chemical peel session depends on the type of peel and the area being treated, but typically ranges from 20 to 60 minutes.
Frequency: The frequency of chemical peels depends on the type of peel and the skin’s response. Superficial peels can be done every 4 to 6 weeks, while medium and deep peels may be spaced out by several months to allow the skin to heal properly.
